GEAY oysters are proud to carry all these distinctions worldwide, which allowed them to be recognized many times at competitions and shows. Commitment in all these steps makes it the most labelled oyster farming company in the world.
The ASC Label makes it possible to guarantee social and environmental monitoring from birth to cultivation and basketing of oysters. This constantly evolving label allows the company to plan its action in order to constantly improve its impact on the environment and to guarantee the stability of its workforce specific to the GEAY family.
The BIO Label guarantees the rearing of oysters naturally caught at the heart of the Marennes Oléron basin. This tradition guarantees recovering the common and natural taste of all generations.
The Marennes Oléron brand guarantees a strong territorial influence, symbolized by the claires that have made the national reputation of refined oysters in this geographical area.
Oysters with the Label Rouge label enable to clearly mark the enhancement of a quality and know-how that is unique in the world.
Our PEFC-certified wooden oyster baskets guarantee protection and sustainable management of forests.
GEAY Oysters are committed at the environmental and social level to the distribution of seafood products, obtaining the ASC, BIO, Marennes Oléron and Label Rouge labels.
There are many ways to recycle our shells, including obtaining eyeglass frames, wetsuits, exfoliants, road paints, or even food supplements or fertilizer thanks to their trace elements...
But also, our 100% French oyster knives which are made up of 70% oyster shells as well as our exfoliating soaps that you can find on our online store.
All our used oyster bags are fully recycled: some are melted down to make new bags.
We have also chosen to give these bags a second life while keeping their initial appearance. We have then developed a range of baskets with the environmental association Écho-mer as well as an ESAT (Establishment and service for assistance through work).
Indeed, the pockets are melted and then mixed with our oyster shells by a company that obtains hexagonal trays that only need to be assembled together to form a parking space, in less than 2 hours of installation.
In addition, unlike asphalt or concrete spaces, these draining slabs allow water to gently infiltrate the ground.
Every week, we carry out checks and analyses of our oysters to ensure their quality and thus offer you excellent seafood products.
Also, a laboratory specializing in environmental and health monitoring of the marine world regularly intervenes to sample, analyze and measure marine and coastal waters. This ensures the conformity of GEAY oysters and guarantees the health safety of our consumers.
During the process of farming our oysters, it is necessary to cool the water to purify them. We then have a strong need for energy, which is why we have installed solar panels on the many roofs of our oyster hut.
The self-consumption achieved thanks to our heat pumps allows us to limit this need for energy and therefore reduce our impact on the planet.
